The idea for Roo’s started in our kitchen while playing 5 Crowns with my family.
My little sister was ranting about how small women’s pockets are—a rant we had heard, and joined in on, our whole lives—when a thought struck:
“Why not just make women’s pockets bigger?”
That simple question quickly turned into an obsession.
As we started thinking about what truly functional pockets could look like, another idea clicked. Kangaroos carry what matters most to them in their pouches. Why couldn’t women do the same?
And just like that, Roo’s had a name.
But making a bigger pocket was only the beginning. We spent months working with our tailor, testing different sizes, placements, and designs. We wanted pockets that could carry more without feeling bulky or changing the shape of the jeans.
Eventually, we landed on our double-pouch design.
The large outer pocket is slim-fitting but spacious enough for the things you actually carry every day—your phone, wallet, keys, and even a water bottle. Inside, a smaller hidden pouch keeps things like lipstick, feminine products, and other essentials organized and easy to reach.
We also placed the pockets at an angle along the thigh. That way, what you’re carrying sits more naturally against your leg instead of digging into your waist when you sit down. And because you don’t have to rely on your back pockets, there’s less worry about your phone or other belongings slipping out behind you.
For us, Roo’s has never just been about making pockets bigger.
It’s about giving women a more comfortable and secure way to carry the things they need. No worrying about leaving a purse behind. No wondering whether something is going to fall out of a tiny pocket. No constantly checking that your phone is still there.
Just the confidence of knowing that what’s in your pocket will stay in your pocket.
And the part that has stuck with us most has been seeing women’s reactions.
Whenever we show someone the pockets, we hear gasps, squeals of excitement, and sometimes even a shouted “Thank you!”
That’s when we know we’re onto something.
A complaint around a kitchen table turned into months of designing, testing, and refining—and now into a pair of jeans built around one very simple belief:
